The employees and the proven management will be taken over.

With the acquisition of Frostag Food-Centrum AG (Frostag), Hilcona is further expanding its market position in pasta and vegetarian products. Frostag, based in Landquart in the canton of Graubünden, employs 118 people and generates annual sales of over CHF 10 million. Frostag will continue to operate as an independent company within Hilcona AG. All employees and the established management will be taken over. The company will be consolidated into the Bell Group with retroactive effect from January 1, 2017. The parties have agreed not to disclose the terms of the purchase.
Hilcona has worked closely with Frostag in the pasta and tofu segments for many years and previously held a 10 percent stake in the company. hilcona and Frostag began producing tofu from Swiss organic soybeans together in 2016. With the complete takeover, Hilcona intends to accelerate the expansion of its vegetarian range in particular. The plan is to develop the Landquart site into a vegetarian competence center.

The current Managing Director of Frostag, Christoph Caprez, can look back on a long tradition in the pasta sector. The company's roots go back to 1841, when his great-grandfather founded one of the first pasta factories in Switzerland. The traditional company specializes in the production of small batches and today offers a wide range of mainly vegetarian products in addition to pasta. For Frostag, the takeover represents an ideal succession plan and safeguards its business model in a growing market environment.
